ABOUT THE COMPETITION
Competitors may be studio or self taught. 6-8 finalists per division will be chosen to compete in the finals. It is permitted to enter both a solo and duo division. Entrants may compete again in the same division to defend their title if circumstances in their performance/competition have not increased. (Excluding beginner division)
HOW TO ENTER
To enter, Contestants are required to submit an application form, $50 application fee and supply 1 professional photograph along with a video entry in the first instance.
Top scoring entrants will be invited to compete in the heats, and winners from the finalists, Grand Finals.
Online – Submit application form with 2 videos (Introduction and Performance), $25 fee and promotional photograph.
“Themed Online” entries must be a “holiday” or “character” submission.
Entry Videos:
ALL PHOTOS/VIDEO MUST BE CLEARLY LABELED WITH CATEGORY AND ENTRANT NAME.
Competitor entry videos will be considered pre-qualifying heats section. The video must be well lit, with the performer and stage area/pole easily visible. The video may not be edited in any way. It must show a continuous performance of the applicant for a minimum of 2.5 minutes. Videos with footage exceeding 5 mins will not be viewed beyond this point. Video entry must be clearly labelled with the year of apply, ‘AAPC Burlesque Beauty Entry’, Performer name and division applying for. Videos may be uploaded to youtube/vimeo or dropbox, and link sent to organiser; or you can burn to a disc/USB and post. Videos may be studio or previous performance. Video entries (heats) will be judged in the first instance by the Organiser and a panel of judges. The top ranking competitors from each division will be invited to compete in SA for the live finals competition. If you are a successful finalist you will receive a registration pack and you will be notified of further details closer to the date.

Beginner - Minimum 6 months training, Must not have competed or performed/taught for profit previously.
AAPC’s Australian Amateur Burlesque Beauty
Amateur/Semi-pro - Previously competed in an amateur or semi professional state competition. Paid performers, Producers may enter this division.
AAPC’s Australian Burlesque Beauty
Open – (semi pro to professional level) Previously competed in a professional state or national competition but not placed 1st nationally. (With the exception of AAPC competitions. You may compete the year after winning to “defend your title”)
Paid performers, Producers may enter this division.
AAPC’s Australian Burlesque Beauties Duo (live only)
Duos - (open - any level) Parade and Performance routine only

Routine Components
The performance is a routine of competitor’s choice and choreography. Please use trigger warnings if you have strong themes.
Length Parade/Introduction = 1.00 minute
Seduction = 2 mins
Routine lengths for all divisions = Minimum 3.00 min - Maximum 5.00 min
Duo - Minimum 3.00 min - Maximum 5.00 min
DUO - routines must include interaction movements.
SECTION INFORMATION – LIVE SHOW
Live, This parade will be a 1 minute introduction with contestant choice of background music, and written bio read by MC.
Online, we want to see your interpretation of a “Personality Parade”
Competitors may present an individual routine of their choice. Options could include Neo (storytelling), Nerdlesque, Cabaret (singing), Impersonation, but please, no full on gore. Backup dancers may be used in this category.
Please note: Long set up and packups may incur a points loss if disruptive to the program, so please take mess and props into consideration.
Routines may include props with liquid or glitter. A little mess is OK; but liquid spread area IS NOT to exceed a 2x2mtr area. A drop sheet plus box must accompany ANY mess acts. Preferably a custom made weighted drop, but see onward for an example. (Tarp drop sheet must be supplied with towel/sheet material or similar to cover the entire tarp plus 15 mtr roll of “Bear tape” (available from Bunnings); As well as plastic container with lid for ease and haste of stage kitty removal of items.)
Contestants are not to leave the stage and enter the crowd at any time during their performance. Crowd participation (IE using a member of the crowd within your show) is not permitted. Entry through the crowd to the stage at beginning of show may be discussed with the organizers prior to the event.
